What we’ve learned is that we are not the only ones to have made some regrettable Black Friday purchases.Unnecessary Black Friday purchasesResearch has unveiled that people are making some... regrettable Black Friday purchases.People have admitted that they have made several ‘unnecessary’ purchases just because they thought the discount could have been worth it, not because they actually really wanted to buy it.These include:• Costumes for pets (with Gen Z and Millennials leading the charge)• Aesthetic treatments• Celebrity merch – including life-size cut-outs• Duplicate gadgets (“something I already own” was the most common answer)• Wooden blindsA fifth of these shoppers have admitted that they regret their purchases. Could it be time to start being a little more practical with our spending?Could you be suffering from Black Friday fatigue?A new study from The Social Hub has shown that almost 71% of adults in the UK do not believe Black Friday discounts are actually genuine.Yet, despite this, the study also revealed that 19% of people still feel pressured to buy something on Black Friday just because they can and they think that they should.Black Friday regrets happen, it's okThe Social Hub have come up with a new idea to help combat this. They have decided to turn hotels into open shopping spaces. They have created a space for people to shop more local and shop more mindfully.Trix Van der Vleuten, Chief Marketing Officer at The Social Hub, said: “The noise around Black Friday has become so loud and overwhelming that it’s easy to forget what matters. ‘Block Friday’ is our invitation to our local community to leverage our spaces for pausing, reconnecting, and making space for real experiences – whether that’s chatting to a local maker, meeting friends, or just taking a moment to breathe.At The Social Hub, we believe in community and connection and so with this initiative on November 28th we’re providing just that.” This could be just the inspiration that’s needed to be a bit more mindful about the purchases you are making.It’s important to say, it’s OK to enjoy Black Friday.
